I heard that if you put a tablesthingy of veggi oil in their feed everyday they will get a shiny coat. I bathe but I only do it during the summer and maybe every other show or so. He doesnt need it but he looooves to roll in the mud. If a horse is healthy he should loook pretty good without any products. ( i have nothing against making a horse shiny but not greasy) Also does braiding the main and tail look tacky or something..? I do that for almost every show..I always thought it looked pretty..

i never braid my horses mane and tails for shows..i think it looks bad no offense and ive never seen anyone braid their horses manes/tails unless it was a hunter person. itl ooks better to have a long and flowy mane and tail i think.

yeah i think it looks better for a walker to have a long flowey tail not kinda crinkly but thats just my opion and no my horse is stalled up he gets out every other day cause we have to rotate the pasture with the other barn people.... we turn out the TB together and the walkers together and a mare and foal... then the other people turn out their horses out but not very much

No one around here does the ribbons only gaited horses but theres what 2 of those? I don't braid his mane or tail tightly I do one loose braid in the tail and 2 big loose braids in his mane. It's not crimpy but its not flat on his neck (ick thats why I braid it..)

I turn my horse out every night during the summer, and every day during the winter- so needless to say, 2 baths a year (and before every show [don't worry I don't show that much]) doesn't hurt. I don't think I'm showing at all this year. I just gave him a bath. But I usually don't braid my horses tail/man for shows- all though I did for New England (hunter class). But for saddleseat, I don't think I'd braid my horse's mane or tail- I mean whats the point of growing the tail out if its braided, and the whole "crimped" looked doesn't look bad, but I think the tail looks healthier and natural if its not crimped.

i think it depends on the horses tail wether if the crimped look looks good or not...if its a super thick tail and really long and its braced then i think it looks great..but for pleasure class i dont like my horses tails to be really long because we have to back...and its pleasure you know?? to the ground is long enough for me and i keep the tail braided regardless if its in pleasure or not but i will wet the tail and blow dry it a bit before the horses class so its all straight. same with manes.
