my Park Pleasure racking gelding george is 15 (16 this year). but thats what buddy told us and i dont really know. hes hyper and stuff and doesnt look like hes older than 15 (or 16). he doesnt have enough gray hair. i was just wondering when the right age is to take him off the heavy plantations shoes hes on now

it doesnt really matter when you take them off there are horses today still showing that are in their 20s with heavy shoes on.. as long as he stays in good shape and doesnt show any kind of lameness its fine to leave his heavy shoes on.

ok thanks hes in good shape and all..and hes a little butterball lol when buddy got him and sold him to us he was skin and bones but in shape. it was like the peeps he bought him from rode him but didnt feed him but he's a butterball and all

I agree! They actually say that if you stop working a horse or do not work him enough, that can cause death faster.

agreed u should keep working a horse when they are older as long as they dont have any medical problems that would prevent you from doing so
