Most tack shops and catalogs sell MTG. Tractor Supply Company sells it too. We order ours from the tack shop and have it delivered because we buy bulk.

i use an ace bandage for bella's tail and its never been a problem. i guess it just depends on how u go about wrapping it?? although...she doesnt go outside, so it might be different for a horse that was out running around more. idk, but i've never had a problem with it causing frizz or anything. the only thing that i wouldnt suggest is the self adhesive ace bandage because that would make the tail sticky and more gets stuck to it....thats something u could probly figure out, but just in case.

I wouldn't use an Ace bandage on a horse that goes outside.

okay so my horse is always outside (cept for in bad weather). So i have a hard time keeping his tail "mud-less", lol. He has a long tail (touches the ground) and after reading all your posts, im def. worried about ruining it. I keep it braided durring this time of year, and every other week i take out the braid, rinse it out, and re-braid it. What can i do to keep his tail better kept since he is outside alot?

I would use a very good mosturizer spray and keep the tail as clean as possible. You shouldn't braid the tail and leave it in a braid, it should be wrapped. I would use Guardtex to wrap it.

I've also found that if you wrap the tail and stick some long pieces of ripped cloth through the hair at the top and then wrap it again to keep the strips in, it helps outdoor horses to keep flies away. Misty looked so funny; hot pink tail rap with light blue pieces of towel hanging out of it.

My horse is retarded when it comes to braiding or doing anything to his tail i have braided it and wrapped it and everything known to man...he just likes to figure out how to take it out.. i guess he gets bored... so i completely understand when you just can't get it braided... unless there is a flawless way it never works on my horse...
