Lol! That's a good idea! Just make sure you wear gloves because it will burn your hands! You could also braid the strings together to make it stronger.

The Ideal Head Set is up with the Nose tucked/ Slightly out. I Work with a combination of bits and training exercies to help get heads up. Making your horse more flexible in the neck and building neck muscles will help him be able to carry his head high. Then it is only the object of teaching him to back off the bit and raise his neck while still keeping his nose down. All my horses will raise their heads when I do liitle bumps in their mouth, tiney see-saws and bumps will encourge them to raise their necks. Thats what works for mine. If all else fails get a Trainer.

Jogging also really helps. When I jog Misty, I always get her more collected than normal and really urge her foward. It flexes the muscles in her back and neck, so it makes it easier to set her head properly. It also strengthens the hind end so she doesn't fall out behind.

Oh, that's right. lol, sorry I forgot about that. I guess what you could do is just get him very collected while he's gaiting, but just keep urging him foward while gently holding him back. Working him in chains/rollers would also help. Hill work is good, too.
