hmm after seeing that lil Paso that looked so much like it was racking, i wonder What is the difference between a rack/running walk and corto? Chi takes very short little steps, but this Paso did not....

The rack is a bi-lateral gait in which each foot meets the ground separately at equal intervals. It is often called a "single-foot" because only one foot strikes the ground at a time. The running walk is a four-beat lateral gait. Good website: www.gaitedhorses.net/Articles/RWbyLiz/RWGait.shtmlAnother good website detemining gaits: gaitedhorses.net/InGait/What_Gait4.shtmlI don't really know much about the gaits of Paso Finos, but I'm sure you could Google it. Paso Fino (I thought this was cute)

The rack is a bi-lateral gait and the running walk is a four-beat lateral gait. At a running walk, the horse will nod it's head, but it won't nod it's head while racking. A walking type horse will have a big back end under him which is necessary to perform the running walk.

im not sure... but when you see a racking horse and a walking horse it is so obvious as to which one is which...if a walking horse isnt shaking its head then its not walking.. but now days the racking horses are turning into walking horses without chains and it is sad... walking horses performing at a running walk will stretch its front legs out and drive off of its back and will point out with its front... while a racking horse is more up and under itself with its front end but still driving off of its back (or suppose to) WGC racking horse- WGC walking horse- i hope you get that...lol cause i dont know how else to explain it!! and i dont know jack about the paso gaits so i dunno.

~* Bi-lateral gait (Rack) - each foot meets the ground separately at equal intervals
~* Lateral gait (Running Walk) - an even four-beat gait, but the legs on one side seem to move forward together, and the hooves lift at the same time, setting down separately
