Once again, no pictures. Misty did pretty well, though the placing was pretty unfair because the judge was the stereotypical type. To her, all saddleseat horses need to have extreme motion. Anyway, here's what we got:
Showmanship: 3rd out of 10. Not bad, though Misty was the only horse that trotted in the whole pattern and we had a flawless performance.
Conformation: 5th out of 10. Haha, surprising.
Saddleseat Walk-Trot: The judge got me and another horse mixed up, so I got fifth instead of second. I don't really blame her though, since the other horse could have been Misty's look alike, save that he was a Morgan.
Saddleseat Pleasure: 3rd out of five or six. Which is where I started noticing the judge's stereotype of saddleseat horses. She placed the Saddlebreds before Mist even though they didn't even walk at all.
Saddleseat Equitation: And Misty decided to throw her usual tantrum right in the middle of the pattern. She stopped, locked her legs, and WOULD NOT move. We stood there for litterally five minutes, judge included, pulling and pushing and throwing rocks at her butt. Eventually the steward brought out one of those huge lunge whips and laid her a good one across the butt and she finally moved. So we got 4th out of 4. Haha, no more equitation patterns for us.
She's been doing that a lot at home, and now that she's doing it in the show ring really worries me. She's 18 and is probably sick and tired of being a show horse, so we're thinking of retiring her and giving her to the lady who trained her as a foal and who also owns Misty's last baby. There's a Saddlebred we're hopefully going to go see this week, a Catalyst son who was supposed to be a trail horse but has way too much motor.
