MY DAD HAS A RACKING HORSE, THEY ARE VERY SMOOTH. TRY TYING A TINY STRIP OF LEATHER WITH A FEW WOODEN BEADS AROUND PRIDES FEET. THE BEADS WILL HIT THE BACK OF THE HOOF AND HE WILL HATE IT THEN HE WILL PICK UP. I DONT PAD HERSCHES FEET, BUT HE CAN PICK UP REALLY WELL. TRY THE BEADS, ITS CHEAP AND EASY TO TAKE OFF.

YUP. JUST TAKE A STRIP OF LEATHER(THIN) AND STRING ON A FEW WOODEN BEADS. THEY NEED TO HIT THE BACK OF THE FOOT, NOT TOUCH GROUND. IT JUST ANNOYS HERSCH ENOUGH THAT HE PICKS UP MORE. DONT TIE THE STRING TOO TIGHT. TRY IT, ITS CHEAP

okay thanks for the tip... i know my horse dont like his feet messed with a lot and he tends to be lazy sometimes when he gaits (just on his off days, lol) so this could really help me get him to move a lot better for me

you could try stretchers...I talked to a walking horse trainer the other day and he said that they use stretchers with surgicle tubing on their flat shod horses to get them picked up higher..
i do not think pride needs to pick up any higher..that pic of the spotted horse is a performance spotted horse (they dont pad the spotted horses up in the spotted saddle horse association) and they do take off points for too much action in country pleasure. this winter you could try heavy park shoes to train him in then before show season put him back on the light plantation country pleasure shoe. but do what i told you to do with the chains and with the head shake and everything trust me it will work..i know its confusing with everyone telling you so many different things to do it would me too. I personally dont like rollers or the "beads" ive had bad luck with those and they bruise the horses feet.
