according to the KSF They have to show flat foot walk, trot, extended trot, halt and canter. Judged 75% on manners, performance, presence and quality; and 25% on total comformation and neatness of attire. also i think the horses can only wear plates correct me if i'm wrong, but thats what i've always heard

The link doesn't work.
Just FYI, correct leads are required in every class and the only classes where the rider's equitation is judged is in classes specifically called equitation (either open or pleasure eq).
Country Pleasure is judged on the overall manners and quality the horse displays. Depending on the level of show you're at, a country pleasure horse may be a lesson horse with a show bridle thrown on it or a horse that resembles a world champion three-gaited horse.
So obviously the quality depends on where you are and what your intentions are...but as always, a Saddlebred should ideally always have a nice, upright headset and as much motion as possible.
It is correct that they may only wear flat shoes -- no pads, bands, wedges, etc.

basically what iced said summer it up: Just think of the horse youd like to ride down a country lane quiet, comfortable, calm are some good things to look for. Also, maybe im totally wrong or confusing you with someone else, but isnt Pride a walker? because..im im thinking of the right horse..then i think hed do well in CP..lol if that isnt the right pride then i apologise for my post LOL!

They also want to see a happy rider. A big smile and fun presence will show the judge that you're having fun, and the horse is a pleasure to ride. Just don't get freaky-creepy with the smile. Nice, soft, and easy. Judges don't want to see a rider scared out of their mind. Eheh, not good.

Yes,around here all we have is gaited Country Pleasure aka ALL walkers..and one paso Lite shod, will prob be acceepted, but since CP isnt judged on action as much (my experiance in fake SS land,i dunno if it holds true other places) you prob. could just give him keg shoes. Id reccomend you find a circuit and look up the rules on shoeing.. Gaited CP (round here)-Calls for a flat walk, and a ground covering itermediate gait,Excessive action or speed is penalized, and the tests are backing (ALL classes ask for backing usually) and Unmounting and Mounting in the line up (have never seen it done). Gaited CP horses can be shown in western or english, but you cant mix attire, And if your in a CP EQ class,it really just basic good postion, trhey dont really specify anything around here. Hope that helped, ans YES from what I saw Pride would be PERFECT for CP

if you show pride in the walking horse cercuit where the shows are rated and sponserred by TWBEA they will ask for a flat walk (not like dog walking but an actual walking horse flat walk) a running walk, and a canter, however, if you show him in a specialty or 2 gaited class you dont have to canter. You will have to back up and they dont ask you. when the ring master or judge one walks in front of the line up that means to back up (you will see everyone else doing it..just dont get on the end) You can dress in either western or saddleseat (english is what they call it in the TWH world but it is really saddleseat) unless it says something about only being western or english. they are like what emily said if they are open gaited country pleasure. Your horse is PERFECT for country pleasure! here are some videos on the TWH CP horse..so you get the idea what the gaits are like. www.twhbea.com/gaitsVideo.htmlook at the flat shod...you can look at the performance if you wnat but you will compete with flat shod! but if you go to a walking horse show the only class you can show in (the same horse anyway) is.. you can show in flat shod but cant cross enter juvenile with amateur you can show in both country pleasure in trail pleasure but you cant change attire...and again you cant cross enter with juvenile and amateur. country pleasure and trail pleasure is about the same thing.. it doesnt really matter what you show in it has about the same amount of competition. and heres another thing..you can only switch classes that you show in 1 time during a show season..for example-say you show in country pleasure and trail pleasure all year and you decided to put a heavier shoe on him and show flat shod or heavy shod..or whatever..you can only change over one time or you cant show anymore.. if for some reason at the show you go to and they dont have the class you show in show in open walking. dont switch to another class! I am not sure of the shoeing regulations however, I am sure that your farrier should know! unless he isnt an official TWH farrier. but if he isnt give me the area that you live in and i will try to find you a farrier. umm i think this makes since at least it does to me! if you have any other questions just ask me!
