Misty was a very good girl for me today at State! The bad part was, the judge had NO clue as to what he was doing. But he did place us fairly well, even though, we did everything we could to annoy him. Like putting our helemts on backwards, pretending to aim our horses at the steward while riding over to claim prizes, and giving each other high-fives during a class.
Misty and I got a fourth out of ten in showmanship. I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but the girl who got third didn't even know what she was doing...kinda bugged me, but I was happy with Mist since she behaved the whole time. I wasn't even expecting a placement like that!
We got a fifth out of nine in conformatin. BIG surprise, since Misty is a cute little thing but isn't put together very well. Thankfully, he just walked down the line and only looked at her good side. LOL. Luck was on our side today.
I was so happy with her in pleasure, since she behaved very well (considering she's in heat. 0.o) And we got second out of six. The only reason we got second was because she picked up the wrong lead right in front of the judge, but we fixed it after a couple of strides. I was so happy with her, though, since she was trying her best. (And there was this absolutely adorable Arabian that placed bellow me...cute, but hot!)
And news about Lucky: We've decided not to buy him, since it turns out he was abused (badly) in the mouth and he won't be the horse he used to be again. Well, not for a few years, but that's just too much time to spend on a horse that we don't know will turn out or not. We looked in his mouth and found scars where a big curb had dug into his gums, and a mark across his tongue where someone had cut it with a knife to make him more sensative. *shivers* But he'll be leased by my friend Cassie, who's around 17 and knows how to handle horses.
