Why don't three gaited ASBs show with a mane? What is the reason for roaching? Like this:

The lack of a mane will better showcase the neck that is ideal for a three-gaited horse -- arched and upright. I believe it was originally done to prevent horses from cross entering between the gaited and trimmed classes when those were the two main riding classes available for saddle horses (before the pleasure division was developed).

I thought that it was used to show off the horses neck since that 3 giated is suppose to be more refined and everythign btu what iced said makes since...i like it being roached.

Thanks for the information! I loved that horse in the picture! Laura, it reminded me of you riding Misti when she wasn't going nuts, lol.

My horse like that is nuts to ride though. Before we got her, they showed her a lot and did some not nice things to her, so she is a little jumpy. We haven't shown her yet because she isn't ready. She looks gorgeous when she trots and canters with all the action and head set and everything, but she has her moments. She has a tendency to trot and canter sideways. That makes me so mad!

I'll have to try and get some of her. I'm kind of scanner and digital camera illiterate, but I'll she what I can do.
