So I wasn't sure which topic to put this under, so I just picked this one. Anyways, a lot of the time when I ride I arch my back waaay too much. How can I stop doing that?

I sit up straight, but I don't really think about it, and then when I see pictures, my back is really arched. I don't know what to do so I don't have to think about it, it's just straight and not too arched.

I'm usually concentrated on something else, and once I get the horse's head set and stuff I'll check my legs and stuff, or sometimes my trainer will say relax your back a little bit, don't arch it so much, I ride at 4 today, so I'll think about it a little more and try to work on it. Sometimes it depends on the horse I'm riding too.

Try to sit up straight and don't really concentrate on it too much because you will end up looking like a board. It is okay to arch your lower back, but this should not be excessive arching, lol. Have fun riding today! I'm getting ready to go ride myself.

I think it was better today, my trainer didn't say anything about it, but now my problem is sometimes when I canter, from my waist up, my body rocks forward and back in the same motion as the horse is going. What should I do about that??

For arching your back, stick a crop or something straight in the waist band of your pants pointing upward toward your head. You can then feel easily if your back is arched too much.
For rocking back and forth, concentrate on sitting on your pockets aka your butt, when your cantering. Move your seat a little instead of your upper body.

Just to stop rocking, and to keep my knees in and bent.

i think u rock with the horse when u canter b/c u really tense up your upper body and kinda freeze up so u end up stopping movement and by not letting urself go with the natural movement (b/c ur trying so hard not to rock) u end up just getting moved by the horses movement since ur kinda working against. i also think this tension is causing u to over arch, so i think that by thinking more about relaxing these things should improve. i used to do the same stuff and was always like im perfectly relaxed but then i finally realized that i really was tensing up my muscles thinking that it would help my posture...this is what i think after watching u ride, just dk if it totally made sense
