Does anyone use weighted stirrup irons? If you do, do you like them? We use them and I really like them a lot.

Weighted irons have more stability than normal stirrups. The weighted bottoms keep the stirrup down and even. It is kind of hard to explain, but the don't "bounce" like a lightweight stirrup will. They also are easier to pick up if you lose them while riding. ;D

I like them a lot and they work really well. It is nice when sitting the trot without stirrups with these because they will not flop and you don't have to cross them over the neck. They aren't too expensive either. I have these:

ookk ya those r the ones we use at my barn. i really like those. and i kno wat ya mean by the dont flop around if u do a sittin trot or sumthin w/o them

I love weighted irons (also known as "equitation" irons). They are more stable and balanced, and way easy to pick up when you accidentally lose them Alot of high level SS equitation riders (and hunter EQ etc) use them in higher competitions. Ive tried them, and they are a great investment.

well mine look like the ones that had the pic on this page so i guess that means that i have them too. i didnt even know it and since I've never ridden w/o them as far as i remmber i dont really know the difference. lol that sounds bad.
