I don't think that it is cruel at all! As long as you are careful and take care of the horse, it's fine.

I dont belive it is cruel, they are very well taken care of (most of them) It becomes cruel when people do not clean stalls enough, let horses out of stalls to walk enough, sore, etc. My mom thinks it is cruel just because they are padded and have to do a lot of extra work.

i dont think its cruel. there are a million other things that are cruel, but thats not. A girl i work with at my barn was telling me all these cruel things she saw being done to jumpers, and i couldnt believe it.

There is always going to be some form of meanness/cruelty in any discipline. They just have to realize that because one person sores their horse, that doesn't mean that all of them do. I think it is stupid that people go off on Saddleseat riders.

well my baby Bella has pads and she is definitely a princess, she's not experiencing any kind of cruelty, so i dont think its a problem as long as people know what they're doing and arent careless and also arent doing cruel things along with the pads. bella was worked up to having the pads she has now, but even still hers arent extreme or anything. I'm spoiled now though b/c i expect all the horses i ride to have that same kind of motion so i push them until they're all foamy and then realize that they were doing just fine. (dont get me wrong, i still love the cp horses, just get thrown off after being on bella)
