Since padded horses have..pads..lol and its harder on them, how long do you excersize them? Like would it hurt them if you rode them for an hour?

well i dont think it would hurt them if you worked them for an hour but they would be REALLY strung out and really sore that night and the next day. i usually work my padded horses 15 minutes 20 max unless i am fixing a problem.

We do the same with the ASBs and TWHs. They are only worked about twenty to thirty minutes at my barn. I think it helps them remain "fresh".

It does depend on the horse but as an average I will work one for 20-30 minutes. Some longer.

Jumping backwards? I'm going to have to try that. I'll grab one of the ponies and torture it a little and make it jump. How is Piper doing?

I don't really torture the ponies. I just grab one from the field, groom it, ride it (bareback 99% of the time) and run it around. I jump on them, trail ride, swim, and just run around the track. They are sturdy little ponies and in really good shape, so it doesn't hurt them. My favorite pony that we have is a little Welsh gelding named Pickles, Lol.

I do that with a NSH mare. I run her down the dirt road chasing cars and racing dirt bikes. I make her jump things and swim too. The ponies are more fun than her though because she can't be ridden bareback.
